Application of Rapid Prototyping
methods
For a visual estimation of design decisions we have an
opportunity to apply the technologies of Rapid Prototyping
(RP), which allow designing physical patterns according
to 3D Modelling (CAD). These patterns can be created both
directly by means of the packages of spatial modelling and
according to the results of measurements given by inspection
machines.
In order to manufacture a product pattern we transform
3D-pattern into STL format. STL is a standard format, used
by all types of Rapid Prototyping installations. The computer
3D-pattern transformed into STL format at the beginning
"is cut" by the computer on thin planes of cross
sections. Such a file, formed in the system of modelling,
is focused on our SLA-installation.
We use special liquid polymer in order to receive a material
copy of the mathematical pattern of RP system. Consistently,
the RP-machine creates a layer by a layer of a plastic pattern
with a high degree of conformity with the mathematical pattern.
The RP-machines can also design parts of complex geometrical
forms, including undercuts, hanging elements and internal
cavities.
Here you can see the received STL-pattern as a triangulable
grid.
The RP-pattern also can be used as rigging to manufacture
small series of prototypes or as a prototype at manufacturing,
for example, of silicone forms.
For silicone casting we use special two-componental polymers,
which physicomechanical properties after consolidation are
identical to traditional thermoplastic plastics (ABC, PS,
PP and others). The color of a plastic can be different.
We also have clear polymers that have resistance to ultra-violet
radiation.

What are the advantages of silicone casting?
They are the following:
- You can receive rigging quicker on the basis of master-patterns,
suitable for application based on the traditional technologies
of plastic reprocessing
- You can quickly receive rigging of the outstripped
consignment of a commodity output based on the roundabout
technologies
- You can essentially reduce terms and expenses when
manufacturing small consignments
